Things to Try Before You Call

  • Ensure Your Breakers Are On

Check your breaker panel for a tripped or turned off breaker. Sometimes they will be labeled AC, heat, furnace, condenser, heat pump, or something similar. If it’s off, you can try turning it on. If it’s tripped you should schedule an appointment to avoid possibly damaging anything further.

  • Inspect Air Filter

A dirty air filter is a common issue that can cause your system to freeze up and stop cooling. Turn the system off and inspect the air filter. Common air filter locations are in the air handler, furnace, and or in the return grills (ceilings/walls/floors).

  • Inspect Float Switch

It is a common problem during the early summer for your condensate line to back up and be shut off by the float switch. Remove the float switch from the holder and check for standing water in the holder. If water is present, you need to clear your drain line. If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself, you can schedule an appointment with us today!
